DESCRIPTION |
This 10th anniversary edition of Sufjan Stevens’ 2005 Illinois replaces balloons (which themselves replaced Superman in 2005) with rising comic book Chicago-born superhero Blue Marvel. The special colored edition includes “Antimatter Blue” and “Cape White” colored vinyl. The audio for the special edition comes from a 2014 remastered version of Illinois. Pressing is limited to 10,000 worldwide. An engrossing musical road trip, “Illinois” takes you through ghosttowns, grain mills, hospital rooms, and the City of Broad Shoulders, with guest appearances by a poet, a president, a serial murderer, UFOs, Superman, the goat that cursed the Cubs, and Decatur’s famous Chickenmobile. Sufjan weaves variegated musical styles (jazz, funk, pop, folk) and the textures of 25 instruments into a tapestry of persons and places famous, infamous, iconic and anonymous. |
